Request of Pools in Other South Carolina Vacation Areas?

Post by marianne eag » Wed, 27 Nov 1996 04:00:00

So far I have gotten one reply with info on pools (or lack thereof) in
the Myrtle Beach area and it does not sound too appealing for us swimming
***s. So, I am now extending my request to ask if anyone knows of good
pools in the Hilton Head area, or other South Carolina Vacation areas.

Thanks.

I don't frequent this newsgroup much now that it has snowed here in
Minneapolis and I have shifted my focus to cross-country skiing (and
I've been told that swimming isn't useful as cross-training for
XCountry).  However, my wife and I were in Myrtle Beach in August
and I swam a few times at the Pepper Geddings Recreation Center.
I'm not sure of the pool length, but there is a bulkhead thingy that
splits the pool to make a 25-yard (I think) lap swimming area.  The
address is 3205 Oak Street.  Phone: 803-448-8578.    It cost 2-3
dollars and opened at 6AM (at least during the summer months)
for lap swimming.  It was nice and quiet at 6AM: I had a lane to
myself.

The only other pool that I know of in Myrtle Beach was at the resort
we were staying at, Kingston Plantation.  As you can guess by my
use of Pepper Geddings, I didn't think much of that pool.  It was
WAY too warm, and had no lane markings.

Have fun in Myrtle Beach.  I hope you like golf...mini or otherwise.
