Swimming: Canadian coach concerned over lack of swim suits
Canadian swimming Head Coach Dave Johnson has a problem. He has an
Olympic swim team of 39 athletes -- the
largest Canadian Olympic team since Montreal in 1976 -- but he has
no fast-skin swim suits, and he's three days out
from the start of Sydney 2000 Olympic Games competition.

I heard this yesterday. I wonder if the Canadians are being "punished"
for not allowing the fast-skin suits at their Olympic Trials. It is
stange that the canadians didn't try to get their hands on some suits a
few weeks ago. Several people (including myself) on this newsgroup have
pointed out that training with the suites might be required to realize
their benefits.

This also raises an interesting scenario. I heard a rumour a few months
ago that Swim Canada and swimming organizations from other countries had
commissioned independent engineering studies to examine the effectiveness
of the suits in case of an opportunity to challenge the swim suit
regulations (and win a medal). Of course, it was just a rumour...

what i read in the SMH's olympic website is that the canadians have
been training in the fastskin suits. The yet-to-arrive suits are the
official ones with canadian and sponsors logos, and they are of the
same sizes and measurements as the training suits.
