good ear plugs?

Post by Terry Hagg » Mon, 29 Aug 1994 02:03:46

Hello,

I have been experiencing pain in my right ear with a little tinnitus whenever
I swim. My ear plugs aren't keeeping out all of the water and I need some
help on good plugs.

Right now, I'm using the SPEEDO flanged plug-the ones that have four or five
separated levels. I cut the lower ones off until I get the plugs to lock
into my ear, cutting off the noise, but everytime I get out, there is water
still in my right ear.

Where are the good plugs?

Sorry, I don't know much about ear plugs but if you are having problems
you should put drops in your ears to get the water out after swimming.
This prevents "swimmers ear".

You can either buy the swimmers ear drops or mix 50% isopropyl alchohol
with 50% vinegar (doctor aproved).

The alchohol gets the water out and the vinegar prevents bacteria
from growing.  The off-the-shelf swimmers ear drops is the same thing:
alchohol and acid.

It doesn't sound like you have swimmers ear though because it hurts all
the time - not just when you swim.

Good Luck!
