-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1995 Long Distance Swimming Calendar                 April 28th, 1995
------------------------------------

The following is a list of long distance swims for 1995.  I have
provided all the information I have at this point in time.  If you have
any further information or notice any mistakes, *please* let me know!
I plan to post an updated list monthly.

The list is also available via the WWW, maintained by Osmar Zaiane

GradStudents/zaiane/personal/longswim/swimlist.html.

Note that where I do not have 1995 information, but believe the swim is
annual, I have provided the 1994 (or earlier) information, and the date is
given in [ ]s.  The swims are presented in approximately chronological
order.  I have tried to make the list as international as possible, so
country names and country telephone codes and time zones are provided as
necessary.  (Remember to calculate the time difference before calling!
Times may be different by an hour in summer.)

The first line gives the name and distance(s) of the swim(s).  That is
followed by the date, location, cost, sanction, age groups, prizes, contact,
comments, and who provided the information.  Comments include information
such as air and water temperature (avoiding terms such as "warm" and "cold"),
sun/wind/waves/tides/currents, course format (triangular, point-to-point,
etc.), seals/sharks/lampreys/etc., accompanying boats, and any other
information that will be useful to new and/or experienced open water swimmers.
Suggestions for improvement of the format are also welcome.

Please confirm any information given here before making any travel plans!

Thanks to everyone who contributed information to the list.
