I did it one week ago, for the first (and hopefully last) time.  Those
who know me will attest to the fact that I'm a hard core sprinter.
However, I was quite pleased with how I did (4480 yd) but in looking
at last years results that puts me about 17th in my age group (30-34).
Today was the first day I felt OK in practice, it took me a whole
week to recuperate.  The only reason I did this was because it is
our LMSC that is sponsoring it, and being Adm-V.Chair I feel some
sort of an obligation to participate.  Never again.

In Newberg, OR we are doing our 1 hr swim Thursday 1/28/93. It was inspiring
to read about the others who posted their results. I would like to
hear more about the strategy/techniques anyone has used.

My strategy is to start VERY slow and try to maintain that slow pace
as long as possible. Marathon running taught me that the biggest
problem in ultra-distance events is going out too fast.

Strawberry Canyon Aquatic Masters (SCAM) had their hour swim last Saturday.
I made 4540 yards thanks to a great pace partner and got a
good tan to boot.

Who has the record for an hour?

The records for each age group are listed in Appendix A of your wonderful
new 1993 USMS Rule Book :)  Unfortunately, my 1993 version is at home,
but the 92 book has W. Cuckovich, 5415 yds (25-29 women) and B. Placak,
5825 yds (25-29 men) as the overall highest totals.

P.S. 1993 USMS rule books are available from USMS, Inc. Two Peter Ave,
