Anyone have any knowledge or opinions on the effectiveness of solar heater
panles for swimming pools? I have a 24' round pool that tneds to get no
higher than 78F during the hottest points of the summer. Lots of big old
miserable trees shade the back yard during the time that the solar cover is
on. Will one of these solar heater panels make any appreciable difference
for my pool? Or are they a gimmick? I'd kind of like to be able to get it 5
degrees warmer than it is. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!

You'll gain up to 10 degrees or more in the summer months, but they do very
little to extend the length of your swimming season. The general rool for
solar is 50% of your pools' surface area in solar panels for warm water,
and 100% coverage for hot water. 24' round pool would require about 280
sq.ft. of solar panels. (They usually come in sizes of 4'x10'
(40sq.ft./panel). The best place for them is on the roof, but they will
work on the ground for an above ground pool. Good Luck.
