Net get together during upcoming World Masters in Montreal

Post by Martin Lives » Mon, 20 Jun 1994 07:58:08

I am sure that there are several rec.sport.swimming and rec.sport.water-polo
readers attending the upcoming World Masters event in Montreal. With that in
mind I asked an ex-Motreal freind of mine for a suitable venue. The
recommendation was a cafe/restaurant:

Faubourg St. Denis,
1660 rue St. Denis (off Sherbrooke St.)

I will be at the above on Thursday July 7th from 7pm onwards. All are welcome
to join me. I will make a small sign or similar signaling device so that
people can find each other.

Yes, I am one of them ...

Cafes on St. Denis are always a good bet, especially when the weather
is nice.  Most of the cafes on this street have terraces where you can
sit outside and enjoy a nice evening breeze.  The atmosphere is always
nice and friendly overthere.

If anybody from the net is coming to Montreal for the World
Masters and is looking for a recommendation for dining/gathering venues,
just send me an e-mail.  I would be glad to help.

In the spirit of this, I'm sure there are a few people who read
these groups planning on being around Atlanta in '96.  Hasty organization is
a bad idea for something like this, so I thought I'd mention the idea so
people who may know something about Atlanta can suggest things.  A group
experience would really be the best way, I think, of taking something away
from seeing the great ones gather to swim.

(leave those daily planners open!)

I'm looking for swim coaches to communicate with through the e-mail or
internet. I've created a location for coaches to post their addresses for
future communications, questions and answers. Please add to your post in
the following format:
Coach: Robert Jenkyns
Team: Homestead H.S. Boys & Girls (Mequon, WI.) & Mequon Area Swim Team

I hope to hear from you!

I have been wondering (and dilligently searching for) if there was a
specifc newsgroup that pertained more specifically to coaches.  I imagined
that there had to be other coaches worldwide that were on-line and willing
to share and trade theories, ideas, drills, and just, you know, stories.
Thanks, Coach RJ, for getting something started.
