IOC/IAAF Drug Testing Protocol

IOC/IAAF Drug Testing Protocol

Post by Tro » Mon, 19 Dec 1994 00:21:38

Anyone else notice the dispute between IOC and IAAF over proposed
changes to drug testing protocol?  Seems De Meridio (SP?) is against
proposed changes that would allow suspension of athletes immediately
following a positive sample test--as opposed to waiting untilthe
results of the B sample are back.  Would allow swifter dealings with
the drug offenders and more immediate punishment at the cost of
certainty and safeguards.
I came across the news in the Clari heirarchy.  Its copyrighted, so I
didnt want to cross post it  :)  Check it out.  I know its in
Clari.local.georgia, b/c thats where I read it.

Given the precedent of the Butch Reynolds case, I personally
think the safeguards should stay in place.
