Looking for Meet Software

does anyone know of a software package to create and run swim meets
besides Hytek and Swim Meet(out of a CT firm) I am the entry chairman
for my daughters swim club this year and the 2 above programs
I find cumbersome and with too many little quirks

Try ProSwim (800/pro-swim).  It's faifly inexpensive, does much, if not all,
of what HyTek does, is easy to understand, etc.  My only involvement
with it is as a user.  If you're interested in having what other USS teams
have, maybe HyTek is the way to go.  Our team is summer club, so we
don't push the software much.

Hytek may be cumbersome but the more you use it the more you find it
able to do. I don't know about Swim Meet but the Hytek Meet Manager
seems to be the "standard" if you will among USS teams with easy
data exchange and dumping meet results into your team manager programs.

Hytek is talking about coming out with a windows version of some of its
software soon. Hopefully this means that the program becomes a little
more intutive.

I use Easy Meet from David Albineri to run both Invitational Meets and Age
Group Dual Meets.  I have found it to be more flexible than Hytek's program
for our league's meet format.  In our dual meets, lineups don't have to be
turned in until 15 minutes before the meet starts.  Changes are also allowed
during the meet if done enough events in advance.  Easy Meet allows me to run
my meet on the fly if I need to.  I am a two finger typist, but with Easy Meet
I can keep up with a meet even if I am entering the full name, team and time.
Add the timing system interface if you have electronic timing and you'll
easily keep up the meet.  Easy Meet prints award labels, scores the meet and
prints results.  At the end of your meet, Easy Meet will export your times in
a format that can be automatically input into the separate Easy Team program.
Both Easy Meet and Easy Team can exchange information with Hytek, Swim Meet or
other programs that conform to the USS SDIF standard.
