I second Kathryn's point. I've interviewed a number of medical
researchers on this topic (I'm a science writer), and none of them have
had anything favorable to say on the topic of isoflavone (phytoestrogen)
supplements. Whole foods are a different story, though.

Hmmm, phytoestrogens in supplements now. But  like the beta carotene
hullabaloo there is no evidence  these supplements are as effective as
whole food (and indeed used in isolation, may be harmful).
