Goggles stopwatch......

Post by J M Carter E » Thu, 21 Apr 1994 21:16:22

Seeing the discussion on the speedo radio prompted me ( in some
wierd way) to ask you people out there about a clock/stopwatch
which attaches to your goggles so that you can see your time as
you're swimming.

Has anyone used these? Any opinions? I forget who makes them
(could be speedo).

Hmm, I read somewhere that it should be hard to focus the eyes
on the watch when you were swimming ... and when you think, thats
a probably thought :-)

The suggestion in the article i read was to buy a small stopwatch
/lapcounter that was attatched to your index finger, and it sounded
pretty smart to me ...

p.s. sorry if I have abused the enlish language, but it's not my

I got one of these Sportcount Lap Rings for a gift and found it to be
great.  It allows you to count laps by depressing a push button with
your thumb.  At the end of your set you get total time, average time
and best lap.  Unfortunately the quality is not all that good.  The
first one I had was defective - the lcd display loosened in the housing
and the readout became illegible.  The replacement I then got worked well
for four months and then the push button broke.

I like the idea of this thing, but after the problems I've had with
two of them, I'm not sure I'd give it a strong endor***t.

Its brand name is Time Window. It attaches to your goggle via suction cup.
The timer has an LCD display. Times for up to 20 minutes in 1 sec
increments. Elapsed time only. Push to start/stop. Squeeze to reset. It
should be positioned so that the display is just out of your main field of
view, but the thing is hard to see. Cost is around $29.95. They usually
have a small display ad in Swim magazine or Fitness Swimmer. World Wide
Aquatics also carries it.

if you want to buy these in the UK they are available from the
Swim Shop in Luton, Bedfordshire. They often advertize in
the Swimming Times, so you can get the phone number from there
or directory enquiries
