The 1st Annual Mactaquac Open Water Swim (near Fredericton, New
Brunswick, CANADA)

This 1500 metre swim was the first Masters-only open-water swim in
New Brunswick. There were 44 entrants which enabled us to break even.
The registration fee of $15 included a t-shirt, sit-down meal, and
various freebies and discounts from sponsors. Medals were presented to
the winners in 5-year age groups and plaques to the over all winners
and to the oldest male and female finishers.

The swim took place on Mactaquac headpond (hydro-electric) with
a slight breeze (9:45 AM) and a water temp of 21 C. The course was
triangular with supervision from 3 kayakers, 1 canoeist, 3 lifeguards
on paddleboards and one guard in a motorboat. There were no
drop-outs during the race.

We had 2 entrants from outside the province.. hope to have more next
year. (Camping, motels, and hotels are minutes away.)
