Ricardo, WAKE UP.

NBC has changed it's schedule, and the soccer status is much improved:

        Women's final: Aug 1  8:30pm EST  LIVE
          Men's final: Aug 3  3:45pm EST  LIVE

So there...

Today starts the coverage of the olympics by NBC, they will show all kind
of sports that are largely ignored until the Olympics cames around and
NBC tries to push all these BORING sports down our troats.

I know we do not have much choice other than ignore the games.
Since you watch anyway any ***that they show on TV, they will continue
to give you crap.

IF YOU WANT TO FIGHT BACK DO NOT WATCH THE OLYMPICS. FIND SOMETHING
BETTER TO DO.

The Olympics as shown on american TV is not about sports anyway, it is
about product endor***ts, commercials, more commercials, commercial
LOGOS everywhere. Logos on fields of play, logos, logos, logos everywhere,
The message is marketing, marketing, marketing, marketing you to death
marketing overkill, forget the games, just sit in front your TV and watch
commercial after commercial, pay attention on the logos.

Do your home work and MEMORIZE the following:

OLYMPICS = SPORTS        WRONG ANSWER

OLYMPICS = PEPSI PEPSI PEPSI PEPSI PEPSI PEPSI PEPSI PEPSI PEPSI PEPSI

OLYMPICS = MCI MCI MCI MCI MCI MCI MCI MCI MCI MCI MCI MCI MCI MCI MCI

OLYMPICS = AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AMERICAN EXPRESS

OLYMPICS = BURGERKING BURGERKING BURGERKING BURGERKING BURGERKING

OLYMPICS = PIZZA HUT, PIZZA HUT, PIZZA HUT, PIZZA HUT, PIZZA HUT

OLYMPICS = VOLVO, VOLVO, VOLVO, VOLVO, VOLVO, VOLVO, VOLVO, VOLVO

OLYMPICS = MILLER BEER, MILLER BEER, MILLER BEER, MILLER BEER

OLYMPICS = ABC NEWS, ABC NEWS, ABC NEWS, ABC NEWS, ABC NEWS

They also will show everything that you don't give a shit about,
including what the mother of the uncle of the friend of the athlete
from Uganda in the very popular sport of badminton did when he was ten
years old.

Another great and exciting story will be  about how the weightlifter from
Chad or ZAIRE had to overcome poverty to prepare for the olympics and
they will show some shots from a very poor village in Zaire and you will
have the chance to meet their friends and relatives. PLEASE DON"T MISS THIS
LITTLE CUTE STORY IT WILL BRING you into TEARS of happiness.

Another big story coming your way it is the story of this poor BOSNIAN
then they will show shots of the BOSNIAN war and how glad he is to be
at the Olympics instead of a war, this also will be very sad.

THey might show something on CASTRO and his bad, bad, bad cubans, then
they will show how the entire cuban team want to stay in the USA and
play baseball. ( THIS is not political it is part of the Olympic spirit)

After all that and some more BORING sports you will see a little bit
of commentaries BLA, BLA,BLA,BLA,BLA,BLA.

You will be lucky if you can watch anything worth watching !!!!!!!!!!

RICARDO.

There are plenty of other times to watch soccer.  If you ask me we could
eliminate it from the games.  This is a time for all the low profile
sports to shine like swimming, track and field, weight lifting etc.  We
can get rid of basketball and all the inflated egos that go with
it too.

Here we are again with another BORING olympics.

The only sport that interest me is not covered by the american TV
which it is SOCCER.

NBC will broadcast only one soccer game, the final game from 12:30 AM to
2:30 AM right on prime time.

I am glad I did not waste any time watching the Olympics four years ago,
the coverage it is umbelievable BORING.

What the olympics it is all about ??????? COMMERCIALS, lots of commercials,
more commercials, plus commercials, more commercials, commercial LOGOS
everywhere, more commercials, then a bunch of sily stories about some
athlete's uncle, about his grandmother, his family, his teacher when he
was 5 years old, any sily or cute little story that they can come up with
will be shown. I forgot, they show also little clips of the actual games
some dart throwing, bowling, rowing, etc.

Regarding the number one sport in the world "SOCCER", NBC is not covering.

I AM GLAD I DON"T HAVE TO WATCH NBC'S CRAPY COVERAGE.

For you sockers that watch the garbage presented by NBC, I hope that by
next olympics all you be able to watch will be commercials without any games.

If you waste your time watching this olympics I hope that NBC will show
their usual 40 minutes of commercials plus 15 minutes of sily stories and
5 minutes of olympic games for every hour of coverage.

You people that are watching that ***you deserve what you are getting.

There is one choice turn to another channel or even better turn the tube
off and do something more constructive.

(1) That would be ok, I guess, if the nine minutes came all at once
instead of every three minutes (2) In Norway there are no commercials
(3) Go away?

Another choice is to use videotape skip the commercials, videos, and
boring events like soccer.

I too am totally disgusted with the NBC Olympic Coverage.  Fortunately I get
Canadian TV and they are doing a much better job of coverage.  It is
unbelievable to me that Canadian coverage is broadcasting US basketball in
its entirety, while the Us coverage is showing other countries engaging in
gymnastics.
I cannot conceive of another country doing this.  Canada broadcasts its own
countries Hockey matches and I'm sure other countries focus on their
athletes.
US broadcasting has to get out of its UN mentality.

I'm THRILLED not to have to watch the NBA in the Olympics.  What a bore.
And I'm very happy to see as many different events as possible.  I wish I
could see more -- without any commentary at all.  It would be great.  I'd
love to see ALL the swimming preliminaries, too.  And the rowing.  And not
have to stay up too late to watch water polo even though it's reasonable
here on the Left Coast.

(1) The US must have really awful commercials to have them regarded as
less interesting than the Olympics.

(2) Go away?  A net fascist's deep thoughts.

(3) The delight of the Games: Janet Evans handing the Olympic torch to
boxer Mohammed Ali at the opening ceromony on its final leg.

(4) The most degrading part of the Games: shots of Mohammed Ali in
above with uncontrollable hand movement giving appearance of
masterbation.

(5) The most unexplained part of the Games: the abstinence from those
views of swimmers that were common in the World Championships two
years ago which surely boosted their commercial appeal.

(7) For fans of Australian swimmers: Sam Riley's favourite song is
'Cool Change' and 16 year old Emma Johnson's favourite film is 'The
Lion King'.  It's in a guide given to the media.  An Australian radio
station reported this and, with embarrassed amu***t, concluded
Australian swimmers are 'daggy'.

Bzzzt!  Wrong, twice.  The gymnastics are at the Georgia Dome, even if one of
the NBC crew did slip once (at least once that I saw) and said they were at the
Omni (which is just across the street).

Second, most of the hugging was in the women's (girls) gymnastics which only has
four rotations/apparatus (uneven bars, floor, vault, beam).  The men have six
rotations (floor, parallel bars, horizontal bar, vault, rings, pommel horse).

Quote:

Considering that none of the gymnastics I have seen on NBC have been live
(I was working the Dome during the actual events, then went home and watched
the taped broadcast),  I agree that they could do a better job at showing
more of the competition.
