It turned out to be a fantastic Christmas.
Getting ready for ride II and its starting to snow again, like
I dont have enough already !
All my fellow sledders "hang in there" Im sure you will get yours soon.

Bob,
Is there a good place to unload where you live?  I just bought my boy's
two new 02 Doo's and they are e***d to ride. Last year we went to a place
just outside of Clarence when the blizzard hit. We are about 45 mins from
Buffalo.

All of Western NY is blanketed. Im suprised you are not shoveling !
Go back to the same spot-(you wont be dissapointed)
Don Georges- ATV/SLED shop is a good place to trailer and unload.
Marked trails and nice riding the whole way.
Just remember to -stay on the trail-  <--- cant stress that enough.

BTW Im not Bob.
Bob in a self proclaimed Engieneer that helped me work on my machine
last year when he was here on the east coast
Hes from the west coast so he doesnt even have a sled or never
rode one for that matter.
Anyway he showed me a trick to get 17 HP more out of my motor
he took the heads off and "retapped" the spark plug holes from
the "inside" of the heads. Of course now the threads are backwards for
the plugs so they tighten turning "counter-clockwise".
I forgot this one time last year and tried to take out a plug and stripped
the hole
and had to buy a new head. : (
I did the same trick again though, tapped them from the "inside" of the
head.
Gaining more HP is achieved by this: (btw dont try this unless youve had
experience
in machine work).
You take the spark plugs and "break off"the tabs that the electodes spark
from".
By doing this and tapping the threads in reverse it brings the spark plugs
"closer"
to the pistons. Now the important part: : "The pistons now actually acts as
the electrode".
It burns alot hotter and vastly improves overall preformance by 17-25% !
You must run a higher oktane fuel too of course and your mileage per gallon
greatly dimishes but the overall results are well worth it.
Thats right, you will now be able to keep up with the big boys and they
wont have a clue how !
Just have to remember = The spark plugs are now reverse threads =
I took a pice of mechanics wire and a plastic tag and wrapped it around
eack spark plug wire that says "reverse threads" just so I wont forget
again.
(ps. If you dont know what you are doing I would not attempt this
modification.)

Good Luck Evel-And Have a very Merry Christmas !

   -=Thanks Bob=-

Thanks for the info. Both my boys are NYS certified and only ride with me so
they have been taught to follow all rules especially staying on the trails.
They have been riding since they were 4 and 5 years old :o)
That bit of engineering sounds neat.  I have an 800 triple Mach Z and I
have done a few things to it so it's plenty fast now. The only place you can
really let it rip is in Quebec or on a big lake. Around here it's kinda like
having a Ferrari in a parking lot :o)
Evel
Thanks and Merry Christmas to you too.

*** MERRY CHRISTMAS ***

Post by Dennis Smous » Thu, 27 Dec 2001 09:52:58

All of Western New York is NOT blanketed.  The lake effect snows were very
localized.  My parents live south of Buffalo and do not have one snowflake
on the ground.  When Buffalo was getting two feet, the sun was shining
there.
