Just the
                                         Model Numbers
97' Summit 500 / 670                1157, 1158, 1162, 1163
97' MXZ 670                            1193, 1194, 1195
97' Formula 500/500 deluxe       1191, 1192, 1138, 1139, 1140

are affected.  (Certain serial numbers aren't affected, your dealer
has the list)           ^^^^^^

I found out at the GraysLake show that the bearings are too hard.

This is fact.

I believe the latest word in RSS here had it somewhere between all of
the 670's and 500's that were built(delivered) before September. I
also believe SKi-DOo will contact your dealer on which specific
sleds/serial numbers need the update. The problem appears to be the
wrist pin bearings not the pin or the clip.

My brother has one and as of last Friday the dealer did not have the
parts in stock to make the update.

Last week my wifes Formula Deluxe was picked up from our dealer and
sent back to Ski-Doo in Canada. I was told that any machine still in
the crate would be sent back for repair.

I have a Formula 500 and have been in touch with the dealer, Ski
Doo will be shipping the bearings and gaskets to the dealers oct 3 or 4
so hopefully towards the end of the week there will hope for the parts.

                                                Chet

PS We went to the PA State championships last weekend and the Formula
500 did one hell of a job to the competetion. It won it's class, so they
jumped it up one class in the 600cc single pipe and it won also, We had
to go home, but when we were leaving it was entered in the next class
up, but don't know what happened, hope your brother has good luck with
his new purchase.

Tom/Tim/anybody who cares.....
I found out what the problem is;
The cage was over heat treated. The fix is replacing them with cageless
bearings.  Skidoo thought about taking all the machines from the dealers
and doing it themselves, I'm sure the dealers wouldn't mind cause they
only get 2.8 hours on the 670 to do the job.  A dealer I spoke with planned
on using grease on these bearings during assembly, this may cause the
bearing to slide on intial startup and possibly cause a flatspot. The
recommended assembly advises only twostroke oil to be used in assembly.
The bearings come in  plastic assembly sleves to aid assembly.
