1980 Arctic Cat Trail Cat HELP!!!!!

Post by Justin Skrzyneck » Tue, 29 Feb 2000 04:00:00

Hi,
I just purchased a 1980 Arctic Cat Trail Cat.  The guy I bought it from
said it is a 440cc engine, BUT, I looked at the tag on the fan housing and
it said 3000 Series.  He said that is is a 340cc engine bored out to 440cc
or something like that. Please note that this is just a plain Trail Cat, not
a 3000 or 4000.  Any information on this sled, engine, procedures for boring
(lol), or other would be greatly appreciated.  Basically, I would just like
to know what this model  of sled has for a stock engine, and if the numbers
are correct.  I just want to see if the guy is trying to***me or if he
is telling the truth.  Thanks to everyone,

If I remember right the 340TC was a 3000,the 440TC was a 4000. Not sure
what year the 3000 and 4000 designation was put on. A 340 Can't be bored
to a 440, the cylinders, piston and heads could be swapped, I think the
crank and cases were the same, but again that was a long time ago.Dave
