I have a 86 cougar. replaced all the needle and seats and floats. when i run
it with gas off it runs good for 3 min as soon as i turn on the gas it
floods out almost instantly. runs great if i turn off the gas. i was told it
is probally the plungers on the ***i havent picked  up new ones yet but
can that really do that. This is becoming real anooying. Can it be anything
else i hate wasting a day driving back and forth buying this and that i
rather buy it all at once.. any ideas would be great..

Buy a repair kit for your fuel pump- you probably have a ruptured diaphram
allowing fuel to go directly into the crankcase via the pulse line. IRONDOG

HPE www.hiperf.com has the kits for about $15... and installation is a
true "no-brainer" using nothing but a phillips screwdriver and a small punch
or nail with the end filed flat.
Normally, the ruptured diaphragm will only flood one cylinder...
whichever one the impulse line for the fuel pump runs off of.
