Anyone riding yet?

Post by Timothy B. Clevela » Fri, 27 Sep 1996 04:00:00

Last week there were several postings from people around the US who were
already receiving some snowfall(mountains of Utah and Alaska).  Did any of
this snow last, and if so is there enough down to allow for riding?

If it snows this winter as hard as it has rained for the last week out here
in Halifax, we'll need snowmobiles just to get to work.  :)

I drove up to 9,081 ft. to sled one day on Sept. 18th this season
already and there were a handful of other people sledding that day
also.  My buddy went on the same day in another part of the state
(Uintah Mountains) and he said there were around 30 rigs parked with
sled trailers when he pulled up to park and plenty of snow to play
with for a few days.  It's all gone now Tim.  Bummer.

Not yet, but today, 9/29, it is snowing like hell here in North Pole,
Alaksa. We had one small snowfall earlier, but this one is pretty
substantial. Very possible that this is it and it will stick, but only time
will tell. It's normally a few weeks from the first snowfall before we can
ride locally; the river banks, trails, and such need some base to cover the
rocks and debris. No groomed trails around here.....
