A lot of 99 Sno-Pros are burning down, seems they had some problems with the
timing,( updates remideed that prob). Also the power valves are rubbing on the
pistons causing pre-mature piston wear. Finally, the cylinder walls are to thin
which is also contributing to burn-downs, from heat dissapation problems..If
only Polaris had that few of problems with the new Edge...heard a lot of racers
are  wishing they could give them back, getting updates in the mail
daily..lol...

Hey Chris, not to be wise but how often do you think they rebuild those
ZR440's?  My guess is they are torn down every week along with the doos,
polaris, and yamys.  In my next of the woods we had a ZRT580 burn down and a
XC600 get real hot this past weekend.

1 of 3 through my dealer and one of the other two is so sick it'll be torn
down shortly....

I guess there is a reported problem with the timing device.

I know my friends (who are racing) aren't rebuilding
on a weekly basis. The sno pro's (as well as the doo's) seem to
be pretty strong....chassis and motors. What they do on the national
circuit (ie the real pro's) is any body's guess.....I'm sure they're
getting
new topends every weekend.

They only reason I pushed on the guy is that we have trail ridden ZR440's
for a few years they've been good....and I don't know of any fundamental
problems with the 99's...and we've been testing and thrashing them since
they've arrived.

I understand that you are not being wise....

Tired of getting your ass waxed by Sno-Pros huh?  So you make up some
bullshit and start smearing it all over.

One of my best friends owns 2 '99 Sno-Pros.  1200 miles on one and 950 miles
on the other......no problems

I also know of 5 other guys with '99 Sno-Pros that deal with the same dealer
I deal with.....They all have over 1000 miles each with no engine problems.

If there are some that are going down, it probably do to rider error (timing
adjust not set right).

This thing you mentioned about the "timing device".  Got any more
details?  Seems to me that if it's a problem with the timing not
advancing, that might explain the bad fuel economy some people are
getting.  Not to mention low power output.  What machines are affected?
One wouldn't happen to be the 800 3 x 3 would it?  All triples?  Please
let us know.

This is exactly the problem with specialty race(no brand preference) sleds in
the hands of the general public. Alot of people don't know how  or don't want
to take the time required to make these machines work. When you are pushing
95-105 hp out of a 440 there is VERY little margin for error in the tune up.
Racers constantly adjust, and yes rebuild to keep in top shape and performing.
There are a couple of old hot rodder axioms" performance costs money, how fast
do you want to go?. And there is no replacement for displacement. holds true
here also.... just my 2 cents...
