Hand warmers and grip glue

Post by dalluge » Wed, 16 Jan 2002 11:28:58

I recently replaced the stock handlebars on the 2001 XC 600 SP with some
Renthal handlebars and put the stock handwarmers on and stock grips. These
grips are slipping now, and I was wondering if I could use grip glue with
the hand warmers?

Thanks!

I belive You must use a two part slow set epoxy glue. The "quick set"
glue won't withstand the high heat the grips give off. This info came
from the Hot Grips installation instructions.

Yup...Scott makes some stuff or you can just use paint.

JB weld, available just about anywhere. Automotive parts stores  and hardware
places have this.
How did you get your other warmers off? If you had to twist back and forth
using vise grips or water pump pliers, they are probably no good anymore. You
might want to meter them first but if you are in the USA just spend the 30
bucks and get new ones.

I peeled them off, it took a while but I eventually got them off and I have
them on my handlebars and they work.
