Hey Paul, just wondering how you liked that sled? I just picked up a
'96 myself. Any thoughts/recommendations with it? Mine has been
somewhat modified though.. It has a M-10 suspension, plastic skis (or
were they already going w/the plastic skis by '96?), 1.25" track, psi
pipe and a, get this, new Rotax 670 stuffed in there!

One minor problem I forsee for myself is going back to a single
headlight. is there anything that can be done to improve on the stock
light?

I put a Zenon bulb in my single bulber 96 Mxz... made a noticable difference.  It shines super
white/blueish... During the dusk timeframe, its performs poorly vs the yellowish output of a
halogen bulb against the snow but once it gets completely dark it works very well... better than
the Halogen for sure.  Ran one all season last year with zero problems... just make sure you don't
touch the bulb on install, I hear these bulbs last a very short time if done so.

We snowcrossed one of these sleds when they were new in 96 and it was not the
best sled we ever had, It had a serging problem at 3/4 throttle that we traced
back to a pipe that would not let the motor run unless it ( the pipe) was very
hot. We shortened the exhaust manifold and a little on the headpipe, as much as
we could without anybody noticing it and after the pipe was hot it ran well
enough to get us a Pro Mod Open Championship that year. The 95 XCR 440 was the
best sled we ever ran, it was good right out of the box and never broke.
