'84 Yamaha BR250 Electrical System

I have a an '84 Yamaha BR250, the owner's manual says not to add any
additional load to the system (100 watts max).

I want to add heated grips, what do I do?

Also, I'm looking for a speedometer, any suggestions?

Am scheduled to go sledding in WI, Eagle River-St. Germain area starting
Friday 2/23.
Weather Channel shows 40's up there for middle and late week.  Maybe rain
too :-)

1. Can anyone in the area Email me on Wednesday with the forecast and
trail conditions?

2. Will the trails be rideable during a couple of days of 40 degree
weather, or will the first day trash them?  I have no experience with this
kind of condition.  I know they had a good base.

Thanks in advance.

Don,

Trail riding is great as of this last weekend.  However, if we get the
40's and sun and rain like they are talking about this week it could
really***it up. It's kind of iffy now depending on the forecast.

I noticed that you have a 96 4 door tahoe. I have one on order, should be
in sometime in March. How do you like it?

Steve

I believe that there is some big celebration going on in Eagle River
that weekend.  I don't remember what it is, but it's advertised as the
#1 Winter deal or something like that.  Music, etc.

Do you know what it might be and post it here for anyone heading that
way?

This weekend is the annual Klondike Days festival at the Derby Track
in Eagle River. The event runs Saturday and Sunday, February 24 and
25. I believe this is the third or fourth year that they have run such
an event. In the center of the track they have dog sled races, pulls,
and demonstrations. The remainder of the grounds have vendor booths
with craftsmen demonstrating decoy carving, snowshoe weaving, etc.

I'm sure the trails in town will get pretty beat up with the warm weather
they are predicting. I'll try to find out conditions and post something
Wednesday or Thursday.

The Husbin and I have reservations in Crandon for this weekend, and
plan to make some calls tonight. I may be at Klondike Days in my 92
Explorer. . .

Don,
My parents live in Eagle River (1/2 way between E.R. and St.Germain infact).
I talked to my Dad last night, he said the trail were still in good shape
but expected this weekend would be pretty tough on the trails since the
temps were so high. I'm headed up on fri. nite for one last weekend of riding.
Today's temps are supposed to stay in the mid 30's, tomorrow low to mid 40's.
hopefully it'll stay cool enough to allow us 1 more good ride...
Regards,
Paul S.

I believe it's the dog sledding races at the derby track with a
weekend winter festival. I forgot the name but it's been held for
the last three or four years in Feb. Then again it could be something
else. We were up there 2 weeks ago trail riding and I have to say
the trails were beat. I don't believe they got any snow since then.
With this warm weather and maybe rain it could be tough riding this
weekend. Although the weekend we were up there it was 40 and raining
and we rode 100 miles that day anyway.
