Trail conditions in Northern Minnesota?

Tim,

I was at Duluth and Two Harbors a week ago.  Plenty of snow!
Even though is was 50 degrees at the time, when we went off the
trail, it seemed bottomless.

I just called a buddy in Duluth, they got 9 inches last week and
another 2 inches last night.

Good riding !

Tim,  I was up in Northern MN Feb 23,24,& 25 and my brothers were up
March 1,2, and 3.  We ride in the Togo/Side Lake/Swampsiders area and the
trails were in great shape.  Plenty of snow.  About 9" of new snow had
fallen during last week.  My brothers said the Taconite was rough in the
corners but otherwise in great shape.  I do not think they have lost much
snow at all up there and the weather this week  has still been cold.

Have fun!!

Tim,  I am Dale's brother that he referred to in his reply.  Go North of
Hibbing and ride the club trails.  Rode 200 miles on March 2 from Togo to Grand
Rapids.  The club trails were mint!!!  There is over 3 feet of snow on the
ground and 9" of new snow.  The Taconite Trail was very rough in the corners.
I would avoid it.  Circel"L" and Circle "T" were perfect as well as Clearwater
and Lawron trails off of the Taconite.  Herb Brandstrom trail always gets a lot
of traffic due to the popularity of the Swampsider's club house.  We met 2 guys
on the trail Saturday (3/2/96) that had put 140 miles on the Taconite Trail on
Friday night.  Said the trail was smooth as Interstate 35.  M***of the story:
ride the Taconite during the week and club trails on the weekends!
Hope this helps!   Have a great ride!
