Exciter 570 and Indy 650

HI.  I was wondering if anybody could tell me how an '87-'89 E***r 570 and
an '88-'90 Indy 650 compare in power, handling and ride quality.  I have rode
my friend's dad's '85 Indy 400 and was really amazed at the suspension quality
and handling.  I'm hoping to buy one of these next year if I get enough money
over the summer.

Thanks,

Correction, I'm going to hopefully by either a Indy 650 or E***r, not a 400.

Will,

I think you'll enjoy the ride on the Indy more than the E***r.  I have
an 1986 Indy Trail and an 1987 Yamaha E***r and there is really no
comparison on the ride.  The Polaris IFS really handles the bumps much
better than the Strut suspension on the E***r.  My E***r can
cetainly out run the Indy Trail (488 fan cooled) and actually is
ergonomically better (i.e. just "feels" better when your sitting on
it).  The Indy 650 should be able to out pace the E***r, although I've
never had the privelege of riding a 650 Indy.

Watch the primary clutch on the Yamaha, mine died right after I'd bought
it (used) because of lack of maintenance (7900Km).  The cost of parts
from Yamaha forced me to buy a Comet 108EXP replacement (nice clutch).
No clutch, from any manufacturer can survive a long periods with no
maintenace.

Good Luck and let me know what you decide on.

I own a 89 E***r and I have to say its been a good sled But I don't
think it would come close to a Indy 650

Go for the Indy, Those pogo stick sleds are obsolete and if memory serves me
right those E***rs had lousy motors. The 650 is heavier but faster. Good
luck......
