ZRT-600 (1997) Hand Warmer Problem

Post by Ken Richardso » Tue, 22 Dec 1998 04:00:00

My hand warmers are not working. Does anyone out there have a wiring
diagram? Can you tell me what color wires run to the hand warmers? My thumb
warmer works fine.

Also, in my tool kit there is a three prong connector with small red wires
jumpering the pins together. What is this for? In case you loose your key?
Where does it plug in?

Thanks!
Ken Richardson

ZRT-600 (1997) Hand Warmer Problem

I have a 97 zrt 600 and have not had any handwarmer problems.
I do know that the plug in the tool kit is for emergency operation only.
If your throttle freezes there is a shut off switch that wont allow the sled to
run.
now if your stranded in the wilds you can plug it in and bypass the safety
switch to get home.
To the best of my knowledge this is what the plug is for.
Anybody want to correct me?

Ditto- the plug is a 2 wire deal that should have a small instruction card
tied onto it.  The plug goes into the wire harness inside the center pivot
area on the handle bars.  This will bypass the carb switches and let you go
on your merry way.  I think it also bypasses the red e-stop/shutoff switch
so test this before you ride.

My handwarmers did not work on my 91 Polaris Indy SKS when I bought it
this fall.  The problem ended up being in the simple electrical
connectors tying the wires together.  They are usually the weak link in
any electrical system.  I would begin here and see if this could be the
problem first, as this is the cheapest and most logical cause.  Good
luck.  Pete
