NOS and EFI, good mix?

NOS and EFI, good mix?

Post by Mad Ma » Sun, 11 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Researching if nitrous-oxide system from NOS will work well installed on
94 A/C 580 EFI.

This sled is stock with exeption of D&D trail chip.

Questions I have are:

1. Will the EFI compensate correctly due to 'reduced' air intake temps?

2. Will EFI give supplemental fuel when needed or is a seperate cicuit
needed for this?

3. I plan on using the nitrous mostly hill-climbing and activating at
lower rpm's
(this is when the rpm's are pulled down by the torque on the track
and can use the assist of    nitrous. Nitrous will increase rpm's
500-600 and I don't want this to happen at peak rpm)

Sled is 136" with 2" track,. SLP skiis, stock primary, Hymark secondary

Lookin for that 'extreme' edge with substantial cost savings

Don't have a clue...  (I'm EFI ignorant...)

Need a seperate fuel system.  The NOS kit should  come w a fuel pump and aux
tank.  You need to run premix in the aux tank.  Your oil injection system is
probably throttle postion sensitive (activated by cable), and can't tell how
much fuel is actually going in to your motor.  The aux system will supply the
extra fuel needed for the NOS being injected and will supply the extra oil
needed too!

Yep, this is what happens...

I just put on a 141"x2".  When you hit the button the track will turn!!!  I'm
hoping the bigger track will allow me to take better advantage of the NOS
boost.

NOS and EFI, good mix?

I put an NOS system on my 88  5.0L Mustang. It had fuel injection.  It used no
seperate fuel supply.  It would increase the fuel pressure in the fuel rail
enough to make up for the N2O.  This kit was good for about 75 HP.  If more HP
was desired, an extra fuel pump was required.  Looking at the Cats fuel
pressure regulator, it appears that there is a hose *** on there perfect for
that application.  There is a limit as to how high the pressure can be pushed,
& how much extra fuel can be pushed through the injectors.   I dought if NOS
did any experimenting; it may be up to you.  The 5.0L could push enough fuel
for an extra 30% (stock was rated at 225HP, + 75NOS HP).  Would a 30 % increase
be enough for you?

Hey Max,

I got a Buddy whose way into NOS.  I sure he could answer some questions for
you.  He should be marketing a sled N02 system this year.

Drop him some email:
