It controls idle mixture. In is richer, out is leaner. Usually set at
1/2 to 1-1/2 turns out.

Uhh.. other way around. It adjust the position of the needle, which goes
into the main jet on the carb. If you turn it in, the needle goes
further into the jet, decreasing fuel.. thus leaner. Turning out
positions the needle further out.. thus allowing more fuel.. this
richer.

It is an AIRSCREW, and sdjusts AIR.  On the VM's out is leaner, in is richer.
Efective range is 1/2 to 2 turns out.  Controls idle to 1/4 throttle.  On many
NON VM's the mixture adjustment is FUEL, out is richer, in is leaner

Dude! A "VM" ; not a Tillotson...  Pilot AIRscrew . Teamed up with the pilot
jet ; it'll control mixture settings from idle to roughly 1/4 throttle where
cutaway and  needle / needle jet  kick in.

On 02-20-99 MIKE says:

Hate to say it but you've got it wrong and Pete had it right.  We're
talking about a Mikuni VM where out is leaner and in is richer.

Hate to say it but neither my mail reader program or Netscape Navigator
show an attachment to that message so I really have to question the
validity of this warning.

I just checked my system, it didn't get me! Do some servers use virus protection?
I did a search on happy99.exe, click on this link for some good info.

I didn't get the attachment either but the virus is real. If you get an e-mail or
news posting with an attachment called happy99.exe DELETE IT! It's a virus, NOT a
virus hoax. Or do a search for happy99.exe, you'll see.  For more info click on the
following link.

Somewhere on a newsgroup (I forgot which one).. there is directions on how to
rid of this virus without dumping your whole system.  Try to search it through
Dejanews.

It's the happy99 exe file that gives you the virus. If you do not open the
exe. file then it will not infect your computer. Just being attached will
not hurt you, you have to run the program for it to get in......
