THE "CHUCKG, GO AWAY" PETITION

THE "CHUCKG, GO AWAY" PETITION

Post by Chuck » Tue, 08 Dec 1998 04:00:00

Well, since Kaiju seems strangely reluctant to grasp the opportunity I
offered her to realize one of her fondest wishes (i.e., my continued
silence on rssif), and PosterBoy is off counting useless "secret
ballots" from God alone knows where, I've decided that if I want to get
this done at all I'll just have to do it myself.

The following is an online petition for one thing -- to get me, Chuckg

unless I'm invited back.  Just sign your name at the bottom... one
poster, one vote.

Please note -- due to the danger that any one yahoo can create multiple
new Hotmail and DejaNews IDs with a little effort, voting will have to
be restricted to people that we've actually seen here before today.
Votes from multiple aliases already known to be multiple aliases for one
poster will be counted as only one vote.  (IOW, don't try voting in all
your multiple personae, RJ... we already know it's you.  Ditto for the
"hanniballecter" troll, if he's still lurking here.  And likewise for
our other resident multi-plexers.)

So if you *really* agree with Kaiju that I'm nothing but a bane to free
speech on rssif, then step up and sign on the dotted line, folks.  .

And no, I'm not joking.  If the vast majority of rssif actually does
want to see me gone, then obviously I'm only wasting my time here
anyway.  So if you seriously hate having me around, sign.  If you don't,
don't sign.

>Do you have any idea how silly you look to me right now?

Actually, I do.  (shrug)  But if you can't laugh at yourself every once
in a while, then what's a psyche for?

And while I am serious in my promise to abide by the results of this
petition (should anyone actually choose to partcipate), I will admit
that I'm thoroughly enjoying the absurdity of the whole situation at the
same time.

>Seriously.  I may have disagreed with you on certain points in the

which you
>*willingly* participated in with Kaiju and Vespertine.  I say willingly
because
>at any point, at any time you could have simply stopped engaging in the
>conflict.

Point -- that applies to either of us, so why are you saying this only
to me?.  And I've extended far more olive branches to Kaiju than the
reverse

>I'm not siding with anyone here.  I personally think you're all equally

even put up
>anything so bogus on the newsgroup like this.  This is *YOUR* problem

How?  I've offered to take it to e-mail before on multiple occasions,
but they have both blocked my e-mail address and persist in continuing
the threads here.  (Note -- I have e-mail blocked neither of them.  They
just never choose to send me any e-mail, preferring instead to choose
rssif as the venue.)

Quote:
>You already disrupt the newsgroup by carrying on this flame-war,

*I'm* carrying on this flame-war?  Single-handed?  At the very least,
you could castigate both of us, not just one of us.

Quote:
>but you are the only one who, IMO, was petty enough to try to evoke

some sort of misguided
Quote:
>sympathy ploy to everyone posting here.  IMO I think you just want
everyone to
>come out of the woodwork and say, "No, Chuck, don't leave.  We support

you."

Actually, I just wanted to see the look on Kaiju's face when she
realized "Damn, there's *no* way I can bluff this guy out... he's taken
my claim that the entire newsgroup is "intimidated into submission" by
his activities and stuffed it right back into my face."

Quote:
>Don't take this as me signing any stupid petition.  Personally, at this
point I
>don't care if any of you stay or go.  But my advice is that if you've
become so
>involved in this whole mess that you're reduced to posting this, then
honestly,
>maybe you do need to take a break from this newsgroup for a while.

Are you kidding?  I haven't had this many laughs in weeks.  :-)

Don't hold your breath, Chuckie.  Or do.  Whichever.

Do you have any idea how silly you look to me right now?  Seriously.  I may
have disagreed with you on certain points in the past, but I think I can safely
say that for the most part I stayed out of the involved war of words which you
*willingly* participated in with Kaiju and Vespertine.  I say willingly because
at any point, at any time you could have simply stopped engaging in the
conflict.

I'm not siding with anyone here.  I personally think you're all equally guilty
of doing everything possible to antagonize the other.  I don't see anyone being
forced to post anything against their will.  Hey, I figure you all deserve to
get what you dish out.  I think most of the participants in this newsgroup have
done their best to either defuse the situation or ignore it as best they can.

It is for this reason that I am completely disgusted that you would even put up
anything so bogus on the newsgroup like this.  This is *YOUR* problem to deal
with.  If you have a problem with Kaiju and Ves, TAKE IT UP WITH THEM. You
already disrupt the newsgroup by carrying on this flame-war, but you are the
only one who, IMO, was petty enough to try to evoke some sort of misguided
sympathy ploy to everyone posting here.  IMO I think you just want everyone to
come out of the woodwork and say, "No, Chuck, don't leave.  We support you."

Don't take this as me signing any stupid petition.  Personally, at this point I
don't care if any of you stay or go.  But my advice is that if you've become so
involved in this whole mess that you're reduced to posting this, then honestly,
maybe you do need to take a break from this newsgroup for a while.

Why not forget those who don't like you and just post?***'em. I
would say the same thing to them.

You have made nice additions to the newsgroup. But I must tell you
that you need to relax and get a sense of humor. We need one around
here!

Jeez, did you even read what I posted?  Where in my post did I say that you
were the only one to blame?  Since you started this silly thread (not Kaiju,
not Ves, YOU) I addressed my comments to you.  It's not that hard a concept to
grasp.

I don't even want to get into the rest of this.  I've said my piece.

Sorry, I did not use the post that I wanted to quote in my last thread.  I
meant to quote Chuck's original reply, not the one Kaiju replied to.  My
apologies for any confusion.

I thought it was funnier that you were the only one to actually "sign" it.

(stick around Chuck - I just read the first new post each from you, Kaiju
and Vesper and ignore the rest of the thread)
