be skating in "The Stars Come Out to Shine", a benefit for the Skate
Canada Trust, on Sept. 13th at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in
Kitchener, Ontario.

Also appearing will be special guest Elvis Stojko who, according to
the release, will preview his two new programs.

Why does the Skate Canada Trust need a benefit to raise money?

Perhaps the skaters are not receiving appearance fees and/or
compensation for performing and all revenue generated from the skating
show goes to the Trust?  I am told that funds for the Trust are
generated from donations, tour revenues, and individual contributions.

Sounds like a nice show/line-up for those fans in the Kitchener area
who are able to attend.

Indeed, but isn't the Trust the place where all the revenue goes from
Worlds, Skate Canada, Canadians, etc. etc.? If so, it would seem odd that
they need to have a fundraiser.
