As a sidebar to a review of Elton John's "Aida" (now touring in San
Francisco), there's a piece called "Classically kitsch" which has
various take-offs on the classics including:

"Gotterdammerung on Ice: Stars on Ice brings the glorious finale of
Wagner's "Ring" to an ice arena near you: Peggy Fleming as Brunnhilde,
Brian Boitano as Siegfried, Scott Hamilton as Alberich, Elvis Stojko as
Hagen, Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner as Gutrune and Gunther, Kristi
Yamaguchi as Waltraute, Tara Lipinski, Katarina Witt and Dorothy Hamill
as the Norns. Fun for the whole family!"

I guess this would be the last part of the "Rink" cycle <g>.

Oops, forgot to say this was in the Datebook section of the 8/14 SF
Chronicle, and the author is David Wiegand.
