So how did you like the ABC presentation of nationals?  Anything good?

What about having MK special Princess on Ice on right before the women's
finals?

Most of it. Carruthers even toned down. Peggy mentioned speed. Way cool. I
wished she had ripped off his headset for herself when her mike was down, but
that's just me. ;^)

I laughed and laughed when they managed to work in the shot of
Michelle-On-The-Beach at the end of the profile. For once, it was like a
retrospective on a career instead of an out-there phluff piece.

_I_ enjoyed it a great deal. I'm sure many of my habit-wearing friends agree.
:^) I feared it would be the ultimate fate-tempter, but it didn't turn out to
be so... unless that's what happened to the triple-triple.

IMO they did good for not having done anything live in so long. My nit to
pick is that I would rather have seen the warm-ups instead of old fluff
stuff.

Michelle Kwan with a mohawk.  That's something you don't (thank God) see every
day.  It made me especially appreciative of the bun during Nationals.  : )  Other
random note:  She and Ilya jump pretty well together, and the dance lift looked
pretty good.

Weird observation from my 10-year-old about the special:  why was the guy singing
group performing on the ice wearing jackets and hats (and even one with a scarf)
while the She Daisy's got out there in sleeveless shirts?  I told her that it was
because women were tough.

So who were the random skaters in some of the group routines?  The MTV-like cuts
made me nuts, because I couldn't quite get a long enough look at any one of them,
though we thought that the one in the kerchief might have been Karen Kwan.

Cheers,
Barb K.

Weird is what I think.    (it was also the victim of a too-clever editor who
seems to have learned his craft at MTV)

The camera work gave me a headache.  I enjoyed what little skating I did get to
see, though.

Janice

Will work for skating tickets.

No, Peg, it's not just you, it's me too, and probably a whole bunch of others.

Like you, I had my VCR set to tape both, but stopped (and erased) the tape
during the Disney special. Why? Because the camera work focused on upper body
shots TO THE EXCLUSION OF ANYTHING BELOW THE WAIST (other than occasional
glimpses). Sorry to shout, but as a skater myself I really want to see the
footwork, crossovers, free leg extension, etc. This was especially noticeable
to me during Hamill's and Witt's programs, the two that I most wanted to
watch. Yes, Dorothy has a great smile and Katerina has great shoulders (or
whatever) but when it comes to skating give me more lower limbs, please!

Yup. Karen now has a full head of curls. It took me two numbers before I
recognized her. :-)

I hated the editing too, and the fact that they showed more of the singers than
Michelle. Geez, I wonder what would anyone turned in to see a Michelle Kwan
special for? SheDaisy? Yeah, right. I thought this is the weakest among the
three specials Michelle has done so far. The punk hairdo didn't help either.
(Was the hair stylist on drug?)  But it probably took her least time since
there probably weren't that many skating choroegraphies to learn.

question for Jas -

 1. What is the material of Michelle's new LP dress?  It looked almost like a
heavy, dull satin, but I couldn't really tell.
  2. I loved it. Was wondering what you thought.
