Long lean legs have been MANDATORY since the early 1990's. It did not
escape my attention that at the 1994 Winter Olympics only *one* couple
(that we saw) did not have this long lean attenuated-greyhound look:
Torvill & Dean, who had not competed as eligibles in a full decade. I
absolutely think that *was* one of the factors working against them, and
am certain that they had to work twice as hard as the others to be seen
as half as good. (They must have worked *more* than twice as hard, since
they did wind up with a bronze medal, after all.)
At the 1998 Olympics there were *NO* exceptions (that we saw) to the
"greyhound look".
