Info required for a new club

Post by MR ROY BEN-EZ » Wed, 11 May 1994 02:36:09

Hi there,

My father and I would like to open a new club. We have got some Qs that we
would like to ask:

1) is 20 rifles + masks is enough for the start?
2) how many cartriges should be used for an outdoor game per rifle?
3) is there more equipment needed to start the club?
4) what type of rifle is good and reliable for starters? who is the
manufacturer (pref. Fax Number)?
5) what type of masks are good for beginners? and manufacturer + Fax.

Thanks

Roy

Info required for a new club

|> Hi there,

Hi Roy, just how familiar are you with the sport of paintball?  Some of
the questions lead me to believe you aren't too familiar with the current
state of paintball... but I'll try to answer anyhow.

(I assume you mean pump paintguns when you say rifles)  The answer really
depends upon how much interest you expect/know of in your area.  If there
is no paintball at all, and you don't know if the interest is there this
should be plenty.

|> 2) how many cartriges should be used for an outdoor game per rifle?

Cartriges (sic)?  Here is where you really started to lose me.  What do
you mean by cartriges(sic)?  If you are going to use modern paintball
pump-guns you'll PROBABLY be using constant air (like with an SL68-II),
so I don't assume you'll be needing CO2 cartriges(sic).  Do you mean
paintballs?  That depends upon the experience and number of the players.
We usually figure 100-200 / person when the players haven't played before,
otherwise, it's always good to have extra.

|> 3) is there more equipment needed to start the club?

That depends.  I would suggest referee vests, a starting horn which will
work of a CO2 bottle, walkie talkies for the refs, materials for building
structures (forts/barricades) on the field, a CO2 fill station, extra
parts and tools for all your equipment, armbands (preferably with the
barrel plug attached), flags, certain warning signs, a port-a-john, etc.

I'd say your best bet for CA pump paintguns is either the Trracer or the
SL68-II.  The SL68-II is made by Tippman, I'm not sure on the Trracer.
I can get you manufacturers with phone/fax numbers if you're still
interested.

|> 5) what type of masks are good for beginners? and manufacturer + Fax.

Most fields around here (Minnesota, USA) rent Vents Predators with full
or nearly full head "armour."  It provides added protection so new players
are MORE likely to return (less welts in the head/face).  I prefer the
JT-Xfire system over the Vents...

Good luck.
