NJPA Tourny Scoring system

NJPA Tourny Scoring system

Did anyone out there here about the NJPA tournament played August 1 at AllStar
in West Milford, NJ. They used a new(?) scoring system that brought out many
complaints after participants played a few games. Get this:
All 14 teams start with 32 points.
A team never loses points, except on penalties, 10 points or 10%
                                                20 points or 20%
depending on the infraction.
The winner of a game gets half of the total points the other team has.
All the first games were worth 16 points (1/2 of 32)
It turns out that 1st place had one loss
2nd place (my team) had two losses.
3rd place had no losses and one tie.
Needless to say the third place team was upset. Now keep in mind that
this is a five day (five matches) tournament. Points will keep adding up as
the tournament continues (every third Sunday). It was very strange, but I'll
keep you updated on how it works out in the long run. All comments welcome.
