Barrels: Aluminum X Stainless Steel

Barrels: Aluminum X Stainless Steel

Is there any big difference between aluminum barrels and stainless steel
barrels (despite the weight)? I mean, accuracy, range, loudness...

I'm thinking of buying a DYE, but I'm not sure which one of the two I
should buy (aluminum or stainless steel).

Thanks!

Yes, there is. First, an aluminum barrel is scratched more easily, thus it
can be ruined by getting some piece of abrasive debris inside the
barrel.(though this doesnt happen very often) Secondly, if you break a ball
in an aluminum barrel, you will have to stop to squeegee it or your accuracy
will be shot. On the other hand, with a SS (stainless) barrel, if you break
a ball, it will clean itself after a couple of shots, and you can keep on
playing with very little difference in accuracy. (SS is also much less
likely to get scratched)Therefore I would suggest a SS barrel.
Hope this helps...

I'd definitely go Aluminum, the only difference is the looks and the weight.
In another post someone wrote that Aluminum scratches easy, it does, but the
Alum. on a barrel is anodized which makes it very strong. Unless you bounce
it off a tree or step on it on a rock it's not gonna scratch. Also aluminum
self cleans just as easy as stainless, however Dye barrels in general don't
self clean very easy.

another nice thing about Aluminum barrels are, you can anodize them if you
want, (I personally dont like the Shiny stainless.) So you can match the gun
to the barrel.

anodizing doesn't make it stronger...just makes it pretty

It does make it stronger, not structurally, but the surface becomes
much more resistant to scratching, depending on what kind of anodizing
was done (hard coat etc.)
