Suggestions for Inexpensive Boat Covers

Post by Steve Plat » Wed, 29 May 1996 04:00:00

Hi RSR:

I'm interested in some inexpensive boat covers that would be used to
cover boats stored outside, top-side up.  The boats I'm interested in
covering aren't expensive boats, I'd just like to keep water, leaves and
other debris out of the***pits.  Does anyone know of anything cheap
that could be used as a boat cover, or does anyone have a sewing pattern
they'd be willing to share?

Thanks much,
Steve Platt

Steve, our boats sit outside also. I discovered large silver tarps
in a catalogue called Harbor Freight. I got one that was HUGE. We cut it
down to size (so we had several smaller tarps for several 8+'s) and wrapped
the boats in them during the off season. . .  sealing tehm closed with
bungees and the straps that hold the boat to teh racks. The tarp cost
about $130.

        Hope this helps,
