Henley Boat Races

According to their website (http://www.henleyboatraces.com/) the Henley Boat Races this Sunday (24 March) have had to move from Henley to Dorney Lane [sic].  I think they might mean Dorney Lake.  It's all down to the wrong sort of water (or too much of the right sort) in Henley.

Obviously I am completely unbiased, but good luck Oxford.

And the Other Place ;-)

It's more down to the fact that there are strong winds forecast for the weekend which would chop up the water. The official announcement stated that, although later tweets and messages on facebook from the HBR account only mention the stream.

I'm interested to know whether they'll maintain the long-standing tradition of going the wrong way down the course...

Seems odd that, looking at the BBC weather it suggests that the wind will be 12mph from the ENE so itll be windy but not the N wind that is needed to make it really choppy like was seen two weekends back. Its quite a sheltered piece of water really (we are quite lucky here) so the wind coming from the East shouldnt be an issue? If anything Dorney would be worse since it is considerably more exposed

The flooded conditions of the towpath may have been a factor, I dont think you can walk on the towpath past Leander and the steward enclosure at the moment
