Heart-rate monitor question

Heart-rate monitor question

Post by David Sim » Tue, 04 Oct 1994 05:42:29

I need some advice from all of you heart-rate monitor users out there.
Inspired by your stories and my own fondness for gadgets (mostly the latter),
I purchased one of the devices myself.  But I've had trouble using it
simply because the chest strap chafes me so badly.  I've found that I can
only use it about once a week, since I need a few days for the skin that was
rubbed raw by the strap to heal.  I've tried wearing the strap quite loose
and quite tight, but I can't seem to find a comfortable adjustment.  Does
anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I've never had this problem, however just like a long distance runner uses
vasaline under the arm pits, etc...you might want to try to lubricate the area
chafed for a while until it 'gets use to it'.

You might try wearing it over a t shirt.  If you wet the area, or sweat
enough, around the sensors, it should work.

Good luck.
