I put Scioscia in Piazza's spot in the team I posted.

>Hershiser and not Sutton?

This is certainly defensible.  As a starter (66-80) Sutton is worth 12.7
wins, while Hershiser (85-92, ommitting injured year in '90) is worth
17.2 wins according to TBIII.  A closer look:
[ERA+ is normalized to league average=100 and park adjusted.  High numbers
are good.  PR/A is park adjusted pitching runs.]

Sutton   GS   ERA  ERA+  PR/A
1966     35  2.99  110     8
1967     34  3.95   79   -22
1968     27  2.60  106     4
1969     41  3.47   96    -5
1970     38  4.08   94    -7
1971     37  2.54  127    20
1972     33  2.08  160    38
1973     33  2.42  142    29
1974     40  3.23  105     5
1975     35  2.87  119    15
1976     34  3.06  111    10
1977     33  3.18  120    17
1978     34  3.55   99    -1
1979     32  3.82   95    -5
1980     31  2.20  159    30

Clearly a very useful pitcher, and very durable.  But rarely dominating.
Now "bulldog":

Orel   GS   ERA  ERA+  PR/A
1984   20  2.66  133    18
1985   34  2.03  171    39
1986   35  3.85   90   -10
1987   35  3.06  130    27
1988   34  2.26  147    32
1989   33  2.31  148    31
1990    4  4.26   86    -2
1991   21  3.46  104     2
1992   33  3.67   94    -5
1993   33  3.59  ???     9

Not as durable as Sutton.  But more dominating years.  As a tie-breaker,
you may consider that Hershiser's been worth close to 25 runs over the
average pitcher with his bat over this period.

Quote:
>> Relievers: Ron Perranoski, Bill Singer, Burleigh Grimes, Andy Mssermith, Jay

>Howell and not Mike Marshall?

Marshall was only with the Dodgers two and a half years, Howell for five.
According to TBIII, Marshall was worth 2.7 games in 74-75, while Howell
was worth 5.0 games in 88-92.

Marshall  G   SV   ERA   ERA+  PR/A
1974    106   21  2.42   141    23
1975     57   13  3.29   103     1
1976     30    8  4.45    76    -7

Howell    G   SV   ERA   ERA+  PR/A
1988     50   21  2.08   160     9
1989     56   28  1.58   216    16
1990     45   16  2.18   168    11
1991     44   16  3.18   113     2
1992     41    4  1.54   224    10

Certainly Howell never had a season like Marhsall's 74, but overall he
did a better job.

        A couple of thoughts:
1)  Carl Furillo played right field
2)  Can you put Babe Herman someplace?  (HOF, wasn't he?)
3)  Clem Labine for the bullpen?
4)  Finally : the best tactical manager of the period (in contrast to
Alston)-- Leo Durocher

Hoping this sets the record straight:

Well...coupla' things to take issue with here. Baker played left, not right.
Dump Jay Howell from the pen, add Preacher. Dump Hersheiser and add Fernando or
Don Sutton.  Tell Sax to take a hike and add Davey Lopes.  At this point,
it's waaaay to early to include Piazza over Roseboro.

Just my opinion.
