Considering the ill will shown the Pac-10 by national ratings and
analysts, Bennett, the former Wisconsin coach, said his new conference
appears stronger than his old one, the Big Ten. The level of coaching is
much higher out West, he says.

"I think three or four of our teams would have a legitimate shot of
winning it, with one team having a great shot at it," he said of the Big
Ten. "Stanford, Washington, Arizona and Oregon all would have a chance.
Now they'll get four or five teams in the NCAA Tournament, and we'll get
three. I don't understand it."

I guess he doesn't think his old Wisconsin teams deserved their bids when
they were the 5th Big Ten team in.

I am really surprised he would say this, especially the dig at the
coaches.  Perhaps he is just woofing his new conference, or
maybe he is still bitter about the lack of respect his Wisconsin
teams got when people bad-mouthed his offensive style.

As you pointed out, his 2000 Badger team puts the lie to
his comments about who deserves to get it from the B10.

Who does bennett think are the four-five teams from the big ten that are
getting in?  They will almost certainly get three.  Maybe 4 if michigan gets
hot and somehow slides by but they really need to get to the finals at least to
do so.  So probably three.  I don't even know how he entertains the possibility
of a fifth team(purdue??)
