The Brooklyn Cyclones defeated the Staten Island Yankees 4-1 in the decisive
game of the Ferry Series Saturday to advance to the New York-Penn League
In Game Three of the series at their own Keyspan Park in Coney Island, the
Cyclones knocked a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to clinch
the victory over their cross-harbor rivals.
The Mets Class A minor league team came back from a first game loss to the
Yankees to advance to the championship series in their inaugural season.
Plenty of fans who have enthusiastically welcomed the return of
professional baseball to Brooklyn 44 years after the Dodgers departure
are sure to make the trip to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Monday for the start
of the final series against the Pittsburgh Pirates Class A affiliate.
