The 18th-ranked Florida Lady Gators (17-6, 4-4) snapped a three-game losing
streak Wednesday, traveling to Athens, Ga. and knocking off the 10th-ranked
Georgia Bulldogs 59-46.

The win over Georgia (18-2, 6-2) marks the second time in two seasons that
Florida has gone on the road and beaten a 10th-ranked team.  Last season
Florida beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa.  Those are the only two times in UF
Lady Gator history that Florida has beaten a Top-10 ranked school.

"We felt like this game was a must-win game for us," said Florida coach
Carol Ross. "That's what pleased me the most about it.  We put ourselves
in a pressure situation by losing three straight and to come out
fighting like we did tonight showed character."

Florida hit just 29% of its shots for the game, but used a pivotal 26-6 run
midway through the second half to take control.  Senior forward Merlakia
Jones led the Gators with 17 points, while Takilya Davis added 15 points
and 10 rebounds. Florida outrebounded Georgia 56-49 for the game.
