Was George Halas ever a NY Yankee?

I have heard a baseball trivia question which
asks who Babe Ruth replaced in the outfield,
either for the Yankees or Boston.
The answer is supposed to be George Halas,
the great NFL Chicago coach. What is the
truth of this?

While it's true Halas played for the Yankees, it's a stretch to say
Ruth replaced Halas.  Halas's only major league season was 1919, where
he went 2-for-22 in 12 games.  Ruth joined the Yankees in 1920, and
it's probably more appropriate to say he replaced Sammy Vick, who was the
Yankees regular RF in 1919.

According to the Baseball Encyclopedia, Halas played 6 games (OF) for
the Yankees  in 1919; this was the entire extent of his MLB career.
Ruth came to NY in 1920--he didn't "replace" Halas in the outfield
because Halas was never a regular.
P.S. Halas' lifetime BA  was .091 (2-22)

Thanks for the great info! Maybe George saw the Babe swat a few
homers in the spring and decided football would be a better bet
for him. George was a forerunner but the Babe didn't replace him.
