From what I've read and seen, I don't recall Lyle being a fear factor in the
ring, but then again, I've never been in the ring with him.

I think Mike Tyson is still a feared puncher, and Pac Man, while isn't a great
boxer, is probably the best p4p powerpuncher in the sport of boxing.

I would have to say as far as fear goes: Hopkins and Mike Tyson.

Tyson, until he retires, will always have one punch KO power. He knocked out
Botha and Entienne with awesome shots. I think Mike Tyson is the best one punch
KO artist in HW history.

I also think Julio Cesar Chavez was a feared fighter because of his fantastic
body punching. Even though Pernell Whitaker beat Chavez (draw my ass), Sweet
Pea respected the power of Chavez the whole fight.

Felix Trinidad also comes to mind. His first round knockdown of fernando Vargas
still sends chills down my spine. I thought Vargas head was coming off with
that bomb.

course.

Yeah, folks fear he'll creep up behind them & hit them with a brick. Or
maybe they fear he'll punch them in the knee or maybe something new.

I dunno about that one.  Hopkins isn't a feared 1 punch KO artist, but he
has a punishing style where he seems to enjoy hurting a guy the whole fight,
which can be a very dangerous tactic, as a late round KO is typically going
to be riskier, healthwise, to a 1-2 round KO.

Let's not leave Danny Lopez out of the picture as he was one of the
greats and I still think about him now and then.  Of course, Salvador
Sanchez mustn't be forgotten either as a feared man...

In modern times, Lennox Lewis was the HW no one wanted to fight.  Bowe ran
away, Tyson paid 1million to avoid fighting him.  The main reason Lewis
gets a bad press is because he found himself with the WBC belt without
fighting the holder, or even a 'great' boxer because he was sidelined for so
long.

Other fighters who were feared: any Southpaw with a pulse, anyone who had
half-killed or killed an opponent and who maintained their aggression (most
recently Azumah Nelson, Nigel Benn).  Any 90's British or Irish middleweight
(not sure how the myth of RJJ continued after Toney and himself dodged every
single one of them).  *** old men who didn't showboat (Marvin Hagler
etc.).

Yes, Evander was scared shitless by the mighty Lewis.

Funny how Lewis who was twice as big as Evander was reluctant to
go to war with him, and felt it necessary to resort to his trademark dirty tricks
(holding behind the head and hitting) to make sure he won.

Evander only fought Lewis when Lennox was WBC champion.  Even though I think
that Holyfield would probably take on an Abrams main battle tank, (and claim
victory after his head gets blown off. He'd use Faith Healing to get a new
one) he cannot claim to have ever given Lewis a title shot.
Amazingly, I think only one man has ever fought Lewis for a World Title with
Lennox being in the challenger's corner.  Is that some sort of record?

Mike Hall (thinking that Faith Healing would be a great name for a ***star)

Tyson had a fight that paid him a lot more.

He gets a bad press because he deserves it, it wasn't like he woke up and
suddenly he had the belt, he sued his ass in there although he wasn't even
allowed to fight for it if I remember correctly.

You don't quite recall correctly.  Bowe infamously threw the belt in the bin
to avoid fighting Lewis.  The WBC decided that Lewis's last fight was the
title match and gave him the belt, making Lewis the first champion who had
never fought a world title fight in his life probably.  Lewis woke up and
suddenly he had the belt in other words.

It's still amazes me that Don King managed to keep Lewis from getting even
ONE title fight in any shape or form.  This was before the McCall fight when
Lennox still had huge flaws in his technique.

And? He didn't need to fight Lewis. He already had the WBA and IBF championship
and was considered the man.

He could not have been in the champions corner since he only had one belt and
Holyfield had two. I have to check on that.
