Can Sugar Ray Leonard Help Naz?

It was reported in this group that Naseem Hamed had hired SRL to be his next
trainer. Leonard has not trained fighters so it seems to me that this move
makes no sense. The only thing I can say is at least Leonard knows more than
the brain dead Oscar Suarez he had in his corner.

I still don't understand why Hamed didn't let Manny Steward have control over
someone like Suarez who basically brought nothing to the table. The way I see
it, Hamed better be careful how he picks his next opponent because he looked so
bad in his fight with Barrera that I think he may just get knocked out in his
next fight. Can SRL make that much of a diffrence at this late stage in Hamed's
career? I think not but I give Hamed credit for getting rid of Suarez who was
totally clueless.

Just because a fighter has great skills doesn't make him a great trainer.  Look
at all sports.  How many of the truly great athletes become great coaches?  Not
many.

It's often the mediocre players that turn into top notch coaches.

I'll tell you why Naz doesnt want Manny to have full controll of the corner.
Manny might tell Naz to atleast keep one hand up.

When I broke this story last week people thought I was kidding. Ray Leonard is
strapped for cash so he's selling his name. After getting taken to the cleaners
by his wife Juanita, who Leonard physically abused for years, Leonard's
investments went sour.

What people fail to understand is that Hamed got by over the years by facing
fighter's moving up in weight, way past their prime, or both. When he finally
faced someone with above average boxing skills, the Hamed puzzle was solved
with ease.

I don't care what trainer the Clown Prince hires, the worst is yet to come.
Punching power alone doesn't make a fighter great. If you disagree, ask Chico
Corrales, and mind you, he could at least box. Next fight, I'm betting Hamed
gets stretched, no matter who he fights.

Do you ever report anything that isn't negative?  There's
gotta be some good stories in boxing....
