Anthony Yigit turns pro

The Swedish boxer Anthony Yigit turns professional at age 21. "Yigit"
is not a Swedish name, but he might have lived here his entire life,
or, really, had just about any story. I first heard of him a couple of
years back on YouTube clips; then, at the Olympics in London, where he
beat a Puerto Rican fighter (age 18) before being eliminated in a
close fight (if I recall correctly). So he has a solid amateur
background. Although professional boxing is possible nowadays in
Sweden (but only four rounds), those shows are so rare and far
between, and doesn't at all generate popular e***ment (but they
might put two or three professional fights in a general martial arts
happening). So, I'm convinced he has the other Scandinavian countries
in mind (notably Denmark) before taking on Europe. To turn
professional at such a young age (this is not Mxico!) is not at all
common in Sweden, where some turn professional well beyond 30 just to
be able to continue competing - so, I interpret this step by Mr. Yigit
as one of self-confidence, ambition, and determination. Although I
suspect he doesn't read this group, I'd like to wish him good luck
getting to the big stages, retaining his youth and health.
