Any Great White Hopes on the horizon?

That's what boxing really needs now.   Any possibilities out there now
in the Heavyweight division?   Hell, how about in any weight class?

How old is Gerry Cooney's son?

Troll thread, but hey...

Pretty much all the prospects are white guys from Eastern Europe. Seriously.
Alexander Dimitrienko, Ruslan Chagaev, Luan Krasniqi, Nicolay Valuev (to some
extent), Cengiz Koc, Georgi Kandelaki, Taras Bidenko, and Timor Ibragimov are
pretty much the list of up and coming prospects. And yeah, they're all white
guys.

The rest of the list is pretty short, consisting of Nigeria's Samuel Peter, and
a bunch of guys from random countries or US states that are regionally very big
with no chance of breaking out (eg France's Cyril Seror, Canada's Jean Paul
Bergeron, New Mexico's David Rodruiguez, Israel's Roman Greenberg, and
Jamaica's Owen Beck). The Europeans all look really good and all have great
amateur records (Ibragimov and Kandelaki have superb amateur careers, and
Chagaev's short amateur career saw him annhilating anyone they put in front of
him), whereas the trademark of everyone else is guarded competition and little
to no amateur experience.

What troll thread?  Look at all the excitment that Tommy Morrison,
Gerry Cooney, hell, lightweight Ray Boom Boom Mancini brought to
boxing.    Damn, that is just sad in a country of nearly 300 million
people (U.S.) that the majority race can't find one white guy to
compete at the top levels of boxing.

It's a troll thread because you describe it as "sad" that there aren't
white contenders.  As for the majority race not being able to "find" a
white guy to compete, hopefully, there's only a very, very few of them
who care enough to look.  I'm not looking.

The top ranked hw now is white. Many promising fighters coming from
Europe in hw are white. I'm not sure how old Cooney's son is, but he may
be old enough to marry Ali's daughter.

Boxing don't need a great white hope in the heavy weight division, it
needs a great all kinds of American or just a great fighters fighting
other great fighters, period. stop being so damn shallow. Why race is
always in your mind for the most important thing is action not what make
it is. Action is what we want to see doesn't matter from who it comes
from.

Vitali is not an American though.   He doesn't count.   The last white
American (legitimate) Heavyweight champ was Rocky Marciano who retired
in 1956!    Geez!   That's 48 years ago!   No wonder boxing is going
down the tubes.   This country has got to find 1 white guy (American
born) who can bring pride back to boxing just like Rocky Marciano did!

I haven't given my killfile a workout in awhile.  Let's see if it still
works...
