Brian Nielsen: I am too good

From the Danish daily tabloid Ekstra Bladet:

---Brian Nielsen had Hasim Rahman on the floor twice during sparring in 1997.

"Has Hasim Rahman forgotten how badly I beat him? Had he forgotten I had him on
the floor twice during sparring? I never understood why he chose me as his
opponent in a volunteer defense."

The amazement of Brian Nielsens was replaced by scepticism when Ekstra Bladet
yesterday informed the heavyweight of the news from the USA: That Brians
former sparringpartner - now world champion - Hasim Rahman, has dumped the
Dane again.

After the scepticism came the honest appraisal from 'Super-Brian' of Rahman;
that the American actually had forgotten how strong Brian Nielsen was when the
sparred together. This happened most recently as a prelude to Brians battle
against Larry Holmes in 1997.

According to himself, Rahman only had a handful of fights when Nielsen
floored him in sparring in '97. Also, he claims to have had Nielsen on the
canvas too, something no one else has done prior or since.
Anyway, Nielsen has not been willing to fight anyone but faded ex-champions
and tomato cans in Denmark during his entire career. David Izon has taken on
all comers. None of them are worthy challengers in my opinion, but Izon is
more so than Nielsen.
Nielsen deserves no shot at any title untill he beats someone in the top 20.

They changed the opponent because the majority dont knows who neilson is,
ive no doubt that he is a very good fighter but perhaps if he had taken on a
few big name fighter's who were on the up and had fights in America he would
have made a name for himself worldwide and would have got more shots at the
titles.

I dissagree. Izon has a decent record but has never really been impressive. He
certainly wasn't impressive versus Derrick Jefferson. He was destroyed in 5 by
Mike Grant. He was tko'd by Tua and lost a Unanimous decision to Mo Harris
among all people. His best win was over Lou Savarese which isn't anything to
brag about.

Nielsen has beaten a lot of tomato cans but he has also beaten four former
Heavyweight Champions. And has also defeated Purritty among others.
