Ali salutes Obama at inaugural soiree
By LAURIE KELLMAN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP)The Greatest is saluting the nations first black
president as inaugural soirees get under way with a bugle call to
dinner at the Kentucky Blue Grass ball.

Boxing legend Muhammad Ali, celebrating his 67th birthday, was the
guest of honor Monday night at a party for 1,400 that included other
celebrities, lawmakers and native Kentuckians.

Steve Buttleman, official bugler of the Churchill Downs race track,
said it was appropriate to be saluting Obama and Ali at the same time.
He said Obama was the leader of the greatest nation on Earth and
Muhammad Ali was the greatest boxer of all time.

Former Miss America Phyllis George was emcee of the affair, along with
her daughter, Pamela Brown.

George noted that Obama and Ali have both brought people together.

Say what you want about Ali, what seems to be missing from your post
is that Obama replaced a brain damaged President.

Muhamad Ali has Parkinsons' you moron, not "brain damage".
Incidentally, there are two types of brain damage; the kind you get
from a physical trauma to the brain, and the kind you develop all on
your own. Now go see someone about it.

Parkinsons' can be caused by too many blows to the head, which is the
cause of Ali's disease. I have always been a great fan of his. It
shows you even the greatest is still only human.

I have also read a report where it was medically stated that
Ali's Parkinson's did not come from boxing.

The report Mel cites seems to make the most sense; Ali did not
take the kinds of beatings we normally associate with a punch-
drunk condition. Even Joe Frazier and "Schoolboy" Bobby Chacon
can still talk, albiet rather poorly.

Ali's situation = luck of the draw.

Saw Bobby at an amateur show last year and he's past "rather
poorly" in the speaking area.  Really sad.

Bobby's heart will just stop someday, putting an end to a rather
tragic life.

He's suffered severe trauma to the brain. I surmise that a lot of the
damage is in the frontal lobe, the place that sorts things out and
makes judgements.

'Schoolboy Bobby' was one of the most charismatic fighters ever.
This is awful news.

That yuotube excerpt is 10 years or more old. Today he is nowhere near
that, he's far, far worse off.
