Anyone seen DeValle fight?

I asked this about Charpentier, and then saw a club fighter in the ring
with DeLaHoya.
All I know about DeValle is that he used to spar with Jones and he's a
lefty.
Does the man have any skills?  Is this going to be a blowout?

I liked the Virgil Hill fight a lot.  Jones is always exciting in the
ring, and I'll be watching on the 18th.

I've seen DelValle fight a few times.  His decision loss
to Virgil Hill was awfully close....and many have speculated
that he might have gotten the nod had the bout not been in
North Dakota.

He's a good boxer, a crafty southpaw, and certainly one of
the top light-heavies in the world.

That said, however, I don't think he stands much chance
at all against Jones.  DelValle is not a guy with the type
of power to back Jones off, and he certainly can't match
Roy's speed.

My original pick was Jones TKO7, but Jones has sounded
rather irked at DelValle in interviews, so I'll up it to
TKO3.

Didnt you see DelValle fight Virgil Hill a couple years ago?

I see ESPN has a Boxing Special scheduled Friday evening and I have a
feeling that they will be previewing Jones-DelValle so you may get a
chance to see Del Valle during that special. Maybe someone else knows
what the special will be.

I saw him fight Hill, and drop him.  It was a close fight, and one that I thought
Hill lost, though he got the decision.

DelValle has some skills, but seems to lack depth.  He fights from one side all the
time, and I think Jones will take him out quickly and easily.  I would much rather
see Jones decide which weight class he wants to own, stay there, unify, and then
take on these second rate top-10 types.

i saw Lou fight Thomas Reid when Reid was on a bit of a win streak, Lou took
him a decsion

Lou knocked Virgil Hill down in the second round of their fight with a right
hook i believe

He won the title by KOing Eddy Smulders for the vacant WBA Title

He is unifying.  Del Valle holds the WBA belt and has a record of 27-1 (19
KOs).

This is a unification bout.  DelValle is the WBA 175lb. champion.

I saw the fight with Smulders in Germany.
Before we all thought Del Valle would be an import to let Smulders
take the title, but he was much better on the night.Smulders ,who was a
considered one of the best had no chance at all.Outclassed ,outpunched
and beaten

Which is why Jones should go up to heavyweight.

Many boxing fans don't recognize the names of the other "champions" in a his
weight class, and the ones that do think it's an easy fight for Jones.  No one
is waiting for Jones-DelValle or Jones-Reggie Johnson.  No one in the US wants
to see Jones-Michalczewski or Rocchigiani.  The only way for RJJ to generate a
big fight at this weight (or 190, where the titlists are even less relevant) is
to lose to someone and create a second big name in the weight class (see Montell
Griffin II, the only "big" PPV fight ever held on a Thursday).

Yes the HW class would be risky for Jones, and sorting out some business at 175
is a good way for Jones to sit out the Holyfield-Lewis-Tyson derby, but if Jones
really wants the mega-stardom he seems to need he has got to eventually step
into the spotlight of the sport.

I do.  I want to see Jones knock Michaczewski cold just to shut up this
one particular critic of RJJ.  How does crow taste with sauerkraut?
